Play is more than just fun – it’s how kids learn, explore, and make sense of the world around them. I love looking into the benefits of different types of play so I can be intentional about the activities I introduce. This way, my kids get the most out of their playtime without me needing to step in or interrupt their natural creativity
Sometimes, I simply set up an inviting space and step back to see where their imagination takes them. Other times, I’ll parallel play alongside them – modeling new ways to engage with their environment, ideas, or problem-solving strategies- and watch to see if they pick up on them in their own way. By understanding the value behind different types of play, I can help them get the most out of every experience while allowing them to take the lead.
